The Hartlepool Labour Group yesterday officially unveiled their new candidate set to stand in the towns Fens & Greatham ward.

Phil Holbrook’s set to stand against Conservtaives Angela Falconer, where its widely expected the Labour Group in Hartlepool could make considerable gains on the local council following a number of controversial decisions by the councils Conservative / Independent Coalition to increase council tax, as well as introducing the controversial garden waste charge dubbed “the bin tax” not to mention significant cuts to local council services that many say is leading to claims the council will soon face an official public call of no confidence in just months according to camapigners.

Mr Holbrook is said to have lived in the Fens & Gretham Ward for over 30 years & was formally employed as a youth worker.

Mr Holbrook was pictures out recently campiagning with former Labour Councillor Jennifer Elliott who'd previous served as a councillor in the same ward

He was recently seen out campapigning with another former Hartlepool Labour Councillor Jennifer Elliott, who's reportedly not yet officially declared whether she will be standing again in this years local elections according to a source we spoke to, however its claimed that this years round of elections could see at least three conservative councillors lost on the coalition at HBC, leading to be what could be the potential return of the Labour Group regaining control of the local council they lost some four years ago if the election result sees both Conservatives & Independnets endure heavy losses as some are said to be predicting.

One councillor from each of the towns twelve wards will be up for election this year with campaigning in this years election starting significantly earlier than previous ones as Labour tries to restore public trust since it lost control of Hartlepool Council back in 2019....
