A Hartlepool Conservative Councillors facing calls to quit before hes served notice that his seat will be recalled following claism he's missed six consecutive full council meetings triggering calls for a recall petition to put his post out to a By-Election.

Henry Ashton, who won the Manor House seat two years ago in the councils all out elections is now expected to be called upon to stand down following concerns that he now holds the lowest attendance record of any serving local ward councillor with opponents claiming his persistent lack of attendance is depriving the community he's elected to stand for from adequate representation.

Mr Ashton was a paper candidate in the towns Manor House ward where it was widely expected he wouldnt win. However when the Conservatives made unprecidented gains in the local council due to labours local slump in popularity, Mr Ashton subsequently found himself with a position he seemingly didnt want, but stopped short of resigning from his £8,220 pound role the elected job entailed, using it instead to fund his university studies at Durham University.

However, in a report thats set to go before councillors next week, Cllr Ashtons persistent non attendance to the council is set to be debated, where its likley that councillors will call upon the councillor to either stand down, or see the role recalled, where its likley that come the May local elections, locals in the towns Manor House Ward will elect two councillors instead of the usual one....

Labour this year is expected to make considerable gains in the local elections on the back of whats been claimed to be the beginning of the end for the councils coalition of Conservative & Independents, following a litany of controversial decisions, spiralling budget deficits, calls for No Confidence in the local council & a controversial council tax increase set to add around £60 pounds to the average household bill.

In regards to Mr Ashtons abysmal council attendance, its claimed out of eight council meetings conveined for the municipal year......

He's attended just TWO !

Reinforcing the need for the councillor to go before he's shoved by even his own Conservative members.....
