The 2007 Skoda Superb with the Registration HBC 1V has been in the councils possession for a considerable period of time, with the 1900cc 4 pot Diesel plodder primarily used to ferry civic heads to functions & other associated meetings as required by the local council.
According to a freedom of information request submitted by a member of the public, the council reported that fuel costs for running the luxury Czech Republican branded Skoda for the year averaged around £800.00 for the year.
Maintenance, including servicing of the now 16 year old motor comes in at around £600.00 a year, with insurance surprisingly coming in at around the national average at just £400.00 for the year…
With just 81,000 miles recorded at its last MOT inspection, the council’s Diesel sipping civic vehicle managed only to rack up two MOT failures in its current lifespan so far, managing to pass each MOT Inspection thereafter with a clean sheet with no advisories recorded.
Experts claim that Skoda’s have an enviable reliability record, with experts ranking the cars 13th on the most reliable vehicle currently on Britain’s roads.
The cars are said to be "bulletproof" if regularly maintained, with engines said to easily surpass 250k on the clocks without causing their owners any real major headaches.
Offering versatility, comfort & reliability, there’s currently no plans to drop the civic vehicle as we understand it despite the length of time its been on the road, with the car itself proving to be the only true value for money item the public’s ever really seen out of any purchase Hartlepool Borough Council has made, making it probably one of the best buys the council ever went and done,
A similar vehicle is now currently selling on an auction website for just £1250.00…
But, it does have 300k on the clock, with Hartlepool's civic vehicle likely to be one of the lowest mileage ones currently on the road.
