Plans have been put forward that would see a property currently used as offices carved up to create a twelve bedroomed House of Multiple Occupancy.

Applicants Arthur House Investments Ltd have applied to Hartlepool Borough Council for a change of use on the building formally known as the “The White House” in the towns Church Street from Office space (Class E) to a 12 bedroomed HMO (Sui Generis) with the installation of two rear dormers.

The application published this week by Hartlepool Borough Council under application reference H/2022/0469 hopes to change the use of the property itself following claims by the applicant that the property is now “vacant”, with consultations already said to have been sent out to neighbouring properties & businesses to gauge whether the plans will come up against any objection from the local community.

Previous applications have seen the property being used formally as a Music School, & then retrospectively applications put to the local council for a change of use from the Music School to offices with the new plans said to comprise of a communal kitchen area, 1 shower room, a utility, store and plant with apartments set out over the whole 2.5 storeys

A decision on the proposals is likely to be undertaken sometime in late April 2023....
