Jill Mortimer won the Hartlepool seat when Labours Mike Hill resigned following a sexual assault allegation
Conservatives Jill Mortimer, who won the constituency seat in Hartlepool following a By-Election triggered by the now disgraced Labour Party MP Mike Hill has reportedly been invited a number of times to attend several of Hartlepool Borough Councils meetings to see for herself the extent of the councils budget problems, following claims that despite saving measures set to be implemented this year, the council still faces the very real prospect that it may be plunged into Section 114 bankruptcy if the economic situation fails to subside.
Interest rates are also said to again be poised to rise, as the Bank of England pushes up rates to their highest levels since the 2008 financial crisis pilling pressure on the councils already unsustainable levels of borrowing liabilities that many claim will be the primary cause of the local council falling into sec 114 bankruptcy if the current rate of interest rate rises continues....
However, councillors are now said to be expressing “concern” at the towns MP who in May 2021 stole the Labour red wall constituency seat in one of Labour's most embarrassing defeats, storming Ms Mortimer to victory with nearly a seven thousand voter majority.

She's declined every single invitation said one councillor
One Hartlepool councillor recently stated that Ms Mortimer had been invited to council meetings where there’s discussion on financial issues so that she could hear first-hand what choices are having to be made & then feed this back to parliament, to this day she’s declined all invitations….
Ms Mortimer’s declining of the invitation to attend the local council in a town she’s elected to represent certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, with the towns Labour General Election candidate for Hartlepool Cllr Jonathan Brash now attracting significant popularity as Labour puts out now that it’s time for an MP to represent the town who actually lives in Hartlepool itself.
Its claimed Ms Mortimer's victory was spurred on by the now former PM Mr Johnson, without him, she'd face an uphill struggle to retain any significant majority if a general election was to be held anytime soon. .,
Hartlepool Matters understands that support for Hartlepool’s conservative MP has "plummeted" in the last year, not helped by the resignation of the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson who previously helped Ms Mortimer storm to victory in the seaside town in May 2021.
Not everyone's cup of tea some say of Labours prospective candidate to become the next towns MP, however many say he's the obvious choice if a General Election was to be held anytime soon ...
Elected to Hartlepool with nearly a seven thousand voter majority, & with Ms Mortimer losing her election "ace up her sleeve" in the form of Mr Johnson, its claimed if a general election was to be held tomorrow, despite his failings, Labours Jonathan Brash would actually be up for a win in Hartlepool by what some claim would be a two to three thousand estimated majority…..
Not as big as Ms Mortimer Achieved in May 2021, but still would allow Labour to claw back its red wall seat that it lost in a humiliating defeat that Labour claims they never wants to repeat…
Does she still know the way to Hartlepool?
