Two town GP surgeries have been praised for the numbers of patients they've seen through face to face appointments, as concerns grow over the number of patients who are still struggling to access their local GP services for a face to face appointment.

West View Millenium Surgery as well as the towns Bankhouse Surgery were ranked at the top of the list for face to face GP appointments

The Figures reveal that both Hartlepool's Bank House Surgery located in the towns One Life Centre & West View Millennium Surgery in West View Rd had some of the highest numbers of patients seen by their GP as a face to face appointment, with the two surgeries jointly ranked at 93.72%.

The Headland Medical Practice was ranked one of the WORST with just 52% of patients managing to see their GP face to face.

The Headland medial practice was ranked the WORST, seeing just over half of its patients face to face.

Face to face appointments with GP's have been falling since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Concerns over a lack of face to face appointments seems to be on the increase, with patients saying that problems accessing GP services such as problems getting through on the telephone for an appointment appear to be getting worse, with patients finding that trying to ring their local doctors at 8 or 8:30am usually results in the phone being engaged or the call dropped, leading to instances where patients when they do manage to get in touch with their local GP finding that all appointments for the day are then taken. .

online consultations are on the increase, but many claim this risks patient safety

The use of online forms such as e- consultation services is also reportedly on the increase, however the ever increasing use of online GP services in some practices is allegedly not easing the pressures on those who are vulnerable & struggling to obtain an appointment such as the elderly & those who dont have internet access which is leading to concerns that some patients in need of treatment are then forced to other parts of the NHS services such as urgent care, when the vast majority of times their GP would be able to successfully manage their condition had an appointment been available.

The increasing use of online consultations is also leading to concerns that some patients could be potentially misdiagnosed for their condition with fears the increasing use of e-consultations will in turn lead to patients potentially having symptoms of a potentially serious condition missed.

GP Services in Hartlepool are under immense pressures as patients registered with the towns surgeries is increasing.

Surgeries are seeing increasing patient numbers, as demand on local GP services has been higher than ever before

GP services in Hartlepool in particular are said to be under increasing strain as the town sees significantly increased housing growth, with facilities such as schools, GP's & other essential services placed on the back burner whilst the local council approves swathes of new housing developments which in turn is said to be putting increased pressure on already overstrained NHS Services with it being seemingly clear that as the towns population expends theres been no consideration for the expansion of new healthcare services to deal for the increasing patient demand....
