A Hartlepool MP's expenses are coming under the spotlight once again following a Hartlepool Matters report published just months ago which revealed the Conservative MP had some the lowest MP’s expenses claims of any Member of Parliament on Teesside & County Durham.
However, just months after that report was published, updated expenditure reports reveal that Conservative MP's Jill Mortimers expenses suddenly DOUBLED, taking her total expenses bill to around 140k..
For the 2021/22 financial year, Ms. Mortimers staffing costs come in at nearly 99k, as well as four thousand pounds claimed back on expenses for the provision of a jobs fair in the town she's elected to represent in Parliament.
Deemed to be one of the most disputed areas of the world, Ms. Mortimers visit to Israel's West Bank is however raising questions over just why she was invited to visit it....
Additional expenditures were revealed in the claiming back of her rent for a second home she uses whilst not in Hartlepool for her MP’s duties which reportedly cost the tax payer around 19k for the year, with the most significant notable item on the MP’s expenditure list coming from a trip made outside of the UK, where its claimed Ms. Mortimer supposedly went on a “fact finding mission” through the Organisation "Conservatives friends of Israel", where Ms. Mortimer was treated to a free flight, accommodation & hospitality estimated to have been worth around £3,000 pounds when Ms. Mortimer was treated to a visit to Israel's West Bank.
